One strategy we use in Primary 6 to help with our spelling is the iPhone template.
One chid is the Texter, the other is the Observer.
The Texter pretends to type the spelling word into the iPhone template using the keypad. The Observer watches carefully and writes the correct word on the screen of the iPhone template.
The Texter checks the observer's spelling for any corrections and then they swap roles.
